About Us

Where we started …

The beginning …

A genuine concern pertaining to the future of the planet began as four high school students; Andrew Hunter, Paul Noppenberger, Ariela Osuna and Caroline Walters recognized the rapid depletion of traditional fossil resources. After concluding the vital role energy plays within every environmental solution, they initiated a pact and formed the International Energy Alliance (IEA) in 2011, with a commitment to enlist the help of others and make a difference. The IEA was established to educate, inform, and inspire like-minded individuals in an environmental pursuit to cause awareness and uncover possible solutions for the ongoing energy crisis.

The mission …

At IEA, we continually aim to achieve an awareness of the energy crisis at hand by educating the public.  Through this website, individuals are given a platform to address concerns, identify with methods of conservation, utilize alternative renewable and sustainable energy sources, and learn additional ways to assume an active role in reducing our carbon footprint.

The future …

Since 2011, the IEA has expanded their domestic and international presence to include members and advisors from China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and the United States. The IEA effectively created a community where students worldwide can unite their ideas and research with a unified goal; preserving the planet’s resources. The most effective way to make a difference begins with a collaboration of thoughts and ideas. One person CAN make a difference and together we can continue to educate and inform one household at a time.

The logo …

Reducing one’s carbon footprint is a simple but essential way we can personally aid in the energy crisis. The Leaf Footprint serves to remind each of us the impact we can make. The leaves form a foot, which depict the origin of life. In additional, a footprint is one of the most fundamental marks an individual can make on the planet. Our footprints have the potential to mark the planet with the positive actions presented by the IEA.

Where we are now …

Our virtual presence and impact …

From it’s induction, the IEA website evolved into a dynamic source of information, delivering global content throughout the world, with information available and searchable in fifty-six languages. Accessed thousands of times each month, by individuals in over 160 countries. Although the IEA began in the United States, less than one third of contributing individuals reside in the states. We are fortunate that this website has become a link of communication for people on every continent.

Our physical presence and impact …

Through personal initiative and involvement in events and activities, the IEA established a reputable physical presence. Together with individual members and schools, the foundation for a long-standing professional and academic support network emerged.

IEA is now a non-profit corporation …

Hard work and dedication has transformed this simple vision presented by four friends into a public recognized charity organization. As a non-profit organization IEA qualifies as tax exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

For donation purposes, our Federal Identification Number is 47-1593093.
