GeorgeSchoeffel2The IEA is very pleased to announce that it has appointed a new board chairman, George Jared Schoeffel. We believe Schoeffel’s background will enable IEA growth in strategic areas. Looking forward to future growth with Schoeffel at the lead.

I feel fortunate that I have been able to participate in many capacities in the International Energy Alliance since its inception in 2010, and I am extremely excited about stepping up to become a part of its leadership team.

Partially due to my passion for global economics and policy, I was interested in energy issues long before I became a part of the IEA. Global dependence on oil and future shortages have been a concern for me from three perspectives: economics, foreign policy, and environment. I believe in the IEA and its past efforts, and at the same time I am looking forward to helping achieve new goals and new growth.

I am currently a senior at Georgetown University where I am double majoring in Mathematics and Economics, and minoring in Business Administration from the McDonough School of Business. As such I believe that my background will enable me to help the IEA create and then pursue its new goals in the areas of alternative energy, in better understanding of energy sources, and in global consequences and barriers of global energy. Since the IEA has focused many of its efforts in China and I am fluent in the Chinese language, I am also looking forward to working more closely on all energy issues related to China.

The IEA now has many exciting ideas in the pipeline and I am greatly looking forward to working with the other IEA leaders and IEA members in the pursuit of carrying the ideas through to fruition.
